Ashwini Vaishnaw Switches to Zoho, Backs PM Modi’s “Swadeshi” Call

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has publicly shifted to Zoho – India’s home-grown suite of office tools – to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to adopt “Swadeshi” products and services.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Vaishnaw announced his move to Zoho Docs, Sheets and Presentations, urging citizens and organisations to join the Prime Minister’s campaign for self-reliance.

“I am moving to Zoho — our own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets & presentations. I urge all to join PM Narendra Modi’s call for Swadeshi by adopting indigenous products & services,” the minister posted.

Zoho’s co-founder Sridhar Vembu thanked Vaishnaw, saying the gesture boosts the morale of the engineers who have been building Zoho’s products over the past two decades.

PM Modi’s Push for Local Products

PM Modi has repeatedly called on citizens to buy Made-in-India goods during the festive season, linking the Swadeshi movement to his vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 – a developed India by the 100th year of independence. According to him, favouring local items strengthens small industries, supports artisans and farmers, and accelerates economic growth.

The Prime Minister also recently launched the GST Bachat Utsav to help households save money, ease business operations, and benefit MSMEs, agriculture, youth, women, and traders.

A Message on Self-Reliance

Vaishnaw’s switch to Zoho is being seen as more than a personal choice; it reflects a larger policy push for Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). By opting for a home-grown software platform over foreign competitors, the minister has set an example for citizens and institutions to increasingly adopt indigenous solutions in their daily lives.
