Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, has invited applications from eligible candidates for the engagement of three (3) Research Assistants under the Srimanta Sankardeva Chair, Bhasha-Bhavana. The posts are purely temporary and will focus on Assamese Vaishnava traditions, literature, and culture.

🔍 Vacancy Details

Total Posts: 3 (2 UR + 1 OBC)
Nature of Post: Purely Temporary
Duration: 3 years (extendable up to 2 additional years based on performance)

📚 Thematic Categories

1. Category 1: Assamese Vaishnava songs, music, dance, drama, and cultural traditions.
2. Category 2: Vaishnava literary and philosophical traditions and the manuscript paintings of Assam.
3. Category 3: Vaishnava literary and philosophical traditions.

🎓 Eligibility Criteria

• Master’s Degree in Assamese or a relevant discipline in accordance with UGC norms.
• NET qualification is mandatory for research engagement.
• Familiarity with the contributions of Srimanta Sankardeva and the Neo-Vaishnavite Bhakti Movement of Assam.
• Working knowledge of Bengali, Hindi, and English is essential.

⭐ Desirable Qualifications (for Categories 2 & 3)

• Proficiency in reading medieval Assamese manuscripts on sāñci bark and tulāpāt.
• Familiarity with the rudiments of textual criticism.

🎯 Age Limit

• Below 35 years

💰 Remuneration

• ₹40,000/- per month (fixed)
• Contingency Grant: ₹20,000/- per annum (per Research Assistant)

📆 Tenure

• 3 years, extendable up to 2 additional years based on performance and final research output.
