Gauhati University Recruitment 2025: Apply for JRF/Project Associate Post (ISRO Funded Project)

Gauhati University has released an official advertisement inviting applications for one post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Project Associate (PA) in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE). The position is funded under the ISRO Regional Academic Centre for Space (ISRO RAC@GU) project titled:

“Use of Geo-spatial and Machine Learning Technology for Early Warning of Late and Early Blight of Potato in Assam.”
This project focuses on applying geospatial science, remote sensing, and ML/AI tools to develop early disease detection systems in potato cultivation across various districts of Assam including Dhubri, Barpeta, Darrang, Kamrup and Biswanath.

Project Duration

The position is initially for 6 months, extendable up to 2 years based on satisfactory performance.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

For Junior Research Fellow (JRF):

• M.E./M.Tech or equivalent postgraduate degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) with First Class
  (minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10)
• Must qualify at least one of the following:
  • CSIR-NET (including LS)
  • GATE
  • Any National Level Examination conducted by Central Government agencies such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.

For Project Associate (PA):

• M.E./M.Tech in ECE with First Class
  (minimum 60% / CGPA 6.5/10)
• No NET/GATE requirement for PA.

2. Age Limit

• JRF: Below 28 years
  • Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC
• PA: Below 35 years
  • Same relaxations applicable

Preferred Experience

Candidates having experience or skills in the following areas will be given preference:

• Machine Learning & Deep Learning
• Remote Sensing
• Computer Vision
• Handling large-scale data

---

Salary / Fellowship

• JRF: ₹37,000 + HRA
• Project Associate: ₹31,000 + HRA

---

• Shortlisting will be done based on academic performance and relevant experience.
• Only shortlisted candidates will receive interview call letters via email.
• Interview results will be published on the Gauhati University official website.
