Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow – a Central University accredited with NAAC A++ (2023) and ranked 33rd in NIRF 2024 – has announced admissions for its Ph.D Programme, May 2025 session. About BBAU
Established in 1996, BBAU provides world-class education in sciences, engineering, social sciences, law, management, humanities, and more. The university reserves 50% of seats for SC/ST candidates and 10% for EWS, along with fee exemptions for SC/ST students. It has a fully air-conditioned Gautam Buddha Central Library, advanced research laboratories, an International Students Centre, and extensive sports and residential facilities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Master’s degree in the relevant field with 55% marks (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD candidates).
- Admission Categories:
- JRF-qualified – Eligible for Ph.D admission & Assistant Professor post.
- NET-qualified – Eligible for Ph.D and Assistant Professor.
- NET-qualified for Ph.D. only.
- Entrance Examination – Required for selected programmes (e.g., Horticulture, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences).
- Foreign/NRI applicants have a separate admission process through the International Students Centre.
Selection Process
- National Level Test Score (UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/JRF) – 70% weightage.
- Interview/Interaction – 30% weightage, including:
- Academic record – 5 marks
- Fellowship/M.Phil. – up to 10 marks
- Research proposal – 5 marks
- Personal interaction – 10 marks
Candidates are shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio based on the number of available seats.

Fee Structure
- Tuition Fee: ₹4,000 per semester (₹2,000 for SC/ST/PwD)
- Admission Fee: ₹1,000 (one-time)
- Examination Fee: ₹800 per semester
- Thesis Evaluation Fee: ₹3,000 (one-time)
- Foreign Students: USD 1,000 per year tuition
Other nominal charges include library, lab, identity card, and welfare fees.
