Tripura University, a Central University located in Suryamaninagar, has released its Ph.D Admission Notification for the academic session 2025–26. The university invites online applications from Indian and international candidates for admission to Ph.D. programmes under various faculties including Science, Literature, Social Science, Music & Fine Arts, Commerce, Law, Management, and Information Science.

🎓 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree (1-year/2-semester after a 4-year Bachelor’s, or 2-year/4-semester after a 3-year Bachelor’s) with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
• Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/EWS/Differently-Abled categories are eligible for 5% relaxation.
• Candidates with an M.Phil. degree with at least 55% marks are also eligible.
• Students with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree must have at least 75% marks (with relaxation for reserved categories).

🧾 Admission Procedure

Admission will be based on the following methods:

1. UGC-NET / CSIR-NET / CEED / GPAT / NFSC / NFST Qualified Candidates – Through direct interview by the concerned Departmental Research Committee (DRC).
2. Candidates Qualified in UGC-NET (Category 2 and 3/NET-LS) – Based on performance in interview/viva-voce.
3. Research Eligibility Test (RET) by Tripura University – Weightage of 70% for the entrance test and 30% for interview. Qualifying marks: 50% (45% for reserved categories).

The RET question paper will be of 70 marks (essay/MCQ/mixed type), with 50% questions from Research Methodology. The exam duration is 3 hours.
