The Department of Biotechnology, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, has invited applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under a prestigious DBT-funded National Network Project in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a strong background in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology to work on cutting-edge research in non-coding RNAs.

Project Details

• Project Title: National Network Project of Department of Biotechnology, IIT Kharagpur – Visva-Bharati Collaboration
• Principal Investigator (PI): Dr. Jolly Basak
• Project Aim: Development of algorithms for predicting miRNAs, lncRNAs, and their targets, along with comparative genomics of non-coding RNAs.

Position Details

• Name of Post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
• Number of Vacancies: 01
• Fellowship Amount: ₹37,000/- per month plus admissible HRA (as per DBT rules)
• Tenure: Up to 60 months or till the termination of the project, whichever is earlier

Eligibility Criteria

• Essential Qualification:
  • M.Sc/M.Tech in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or any branch of Life Sciences.
  • Must be selected through any of the following:
    • National Eligibility Tests (CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship/Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
    • National-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments/Agencies/Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
• Desired Experience: Programming knowledge in C/C++/Python/R.
• Age Limit: Maximum 28 years (relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH and female candidates).
