Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, has announced an opening for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Biotechnology. The position is part of a National Network Project under a collaboration between the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, IIT Kharagpur, and Visva-Bharati University.

🔬 Project Overview

• Project Title: National Network Project of Department of Biotechnology, IIT Kharagpur, Visva-Bharati Collaboration
• Principal Investigator (PI): Dr. Jolly Basak
• Project Aim: To develop algorithms for the prediction of miRNAs, lncRNAs, and their targets, along with comparative genomics studies of non-coding RNAs.

💼 Position Details

• Post Name: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 1 Position
• Tenure: 60 months or until the project’s completion, whichever is earlier
• Sponsoring Agency: Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technology

💰 Fellowship

• Stipend: ₹37,000/- per month
• Additional Benefits: HRA as per DBT rules

🎓 Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications:

• M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or any branch of Life Sciences
• Candidates must qualify through one of the following:
  • National Eligibility Tests such as CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship) or GATE
  • Selection through national-level examinations conducted by central government bodies such as DST, DBT, DAE, DRDO, ICAR, ICMR, IITs, IISc, IISER, or NISER

Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in programming languages like C, C++, Python, or R

Age Limit:

• Maximum 28 years
• Relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH and female candidates
